Jett Boots brings a new offering to the protective footwear department of your dealership or online retailer. Jett is very specialized in their offerings to us. In fact, they are so specialized that they only have 2 products available, Boot in White and Boot in Black.
On Jett’s website it states “Made from an exclusive and proprietary material developed by JETT,” but there is no claim as to what the material actually is. This leaves it open to speculation. Could it be the same stuff NASA uses in space suits has made its way into the motocross protection world? Could it be made out of human flesh? Panther flesh?
Even if you were/are riding in fetus skeleton boots doesn’t change the fact that these boots are quite comfortable. To put them on you have to unclasp and the “outer shell” pivots backwards. Whats left the softer more maleable “interior boot.” The “interior boot” fastens with velcro and the “outer shell” is then pivoted up around your leg and clasped shut with a different but somewhat conventional buckle. There is no break in time required and the feel is similar to other pivoting boots. The toe box is narrow, but narrow in a good way. The whole boot fits as though it was made to fit the shape and angles of the human lower leg.
A claim made by Jett is that their boot is 15% lighter than any other high end boot on the market. I believe this to be true. The Jetts felt light. They are light but also protective. My foot was hurting after smashing it between the frame of the bike and a stump while laying it over in a corner at the Ironman GNCC, but I’m sure it could have been worse had I been in some of the other boots available.
The durability of the Jetts was hard to test in only 2 rides. However they seem to be holding up fine. In the first couple minutes of riding I tore off 2 of the “grip bubbles” on the bottom inside of both boots. After that they was hardly any noticeable wear. The soles held up great even with using aggressive aftermarket pegs.
Instead of telling you my verdict, I will just lay out the facts and let you decide…

Light
Comfortable
Protective
Simple style
Replaceable soles that hold up good

How difficult is it to find replacement buckles, soles, etc?
Do they breakdown over a couple months?
Do the pivots squeak after time?
Retail is $400, not cheap but less than some others
