HOLD IT! A Novik Crimestopper Glove Review

Novik Gloves are a new name to the motocross glove market. Although a new name, they have been making gloves for different riding gear companies. This means that you have probably worn a Novik glove before, although it was made to someone else’s standards and branded with someone else’s name.

Novik is making gloves with their name and it has a different feel than your standard four fingered MX hand sock.

The Feel

The first thing I noticed is that the gloves are thin. The Crimestopper is their padded glove. This means that it has more padding than the other models. I blister a lot, probably from not riding much, so I prefered the Crimestopper. Even though the gloves were thin, I did not notice any hot spots on my hands. Maybe this is because the padding was strategically placed so that I didn’t notice it but it did protect me?

The cuff is really low in the wrist, as to not cause arm pump. The different layers and materials of the glove move well. There is no binding or hinderence of movement. Really, if you can wear a glove and it does not feel bad, then you know it is good.

When I first put them on, my left thumb felt tight. After the gloves broke in there was no issue. One would think that the thumb slots would be the same size on both hands. Maybe my left thumb was larger from too much texting.

The Look

In my opinion the gloves looked pretty good. I went through a phase were I would only race in green gloves. This ended after I realized I was on a budget tighter than that shirt you still have from elementary school in the back of your dresser that you save for sentimental value rather than wearablilty. So being on a budget, my meager funds were better spent on tires, oil, gas, rather than green gloves and nice looking gear. Back on topic though, the gloves looked good.

I showed the gloves to gather some other opinions of appearance. I got everything from, “Dude they look sweet!” to “They look like gardening gloves.” Mixed feelings.

So are they worth it?

I’m going to say yes on this one. They are priced the same or less than other gloves on the market. The performance is actually above what many other gloves can give you.

If you like to match gloves with gear, then you are out of luck. As of 2011 Novik has no adult riding gear. They have a whole lineup of different colors though.

If you are rocking the same gloves that you wore to the Florida GNCC, then splurge a little bit on yourself and check out www.NovikGloves.com.

Hey Charkie, nice review. How do they work when muddy or wet?

good question, I will let you know when I get the chance to try it out. The palm feels like the same material as other gloves. Therefore my assumption is that is should be the same.

Mud ability is about the same as any other glove. They do seem to stretch more when wet than other gloves.
